In the beginning God gave man reign over the animals; he gave us the fish and the birds, and every sort of seed bearing plant on the Earth. We started out , in a sense, as a generation of hunters and gatherers. Seeking to capture what the world could offer to us as fulfilment for our highest necessities. It's hard to imagine a time before cell phones, and daily updated internet blogs, not to mention a past that didn't include our every day basics like grocery stores and electric heating. Some would say that we have evolved into a better state of being. An intellectual group of digital aged technological terrorists, taking over, and overall improving humanity. Most would agree that we have left our days of hunting and gathering behind, or better yet, upgraded to a newer 1.0.1 model of living.
We have nothing left to hunt, nothing left to kill, nothing left to seek, have we? We aren't taking part in any battles, not fighting to stay alive, to provide for ourselves, or for anything really. Not you and I anyway, I mean forget about the third world countries, about the hunger, the genocides and wars, most people already have. We, the stable programmers of our own style sheets, who have access to the limitless resource that is our civilization, coast without direction through this world. Working to create an image that works. Living to find out what it truly means to be alive.
But that's our hunt, isn't it ? Our priorities have shifted, we've leapt over hurdles and are looking back on our long stretch of accomplishments. Food and shelter are no longer of great concern for most individuals. We no longer seek to capture our prey, but to capture a glimpse of our inner workings, to find ourselves and feed off our own reassurance. We look back with pride, forgetting that when we turn around the journey still continues. We consider our generation to be far superior to those of the past, because we have I-pods and online shopping. We haven't evolved, we've aged, colleting and carrying with us a sacred pile of knickknacks that make this period in time seem as great as we think it is. We are still the same blood and flesh human beings that God looked after in the beginning. We are still seeking to take hold of all the world has to offer. We are still hungry. Like it or not, we are still hunting.

But I, being poor, have only my dreams
I have spread my dreams beneath your feet
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
